Top Row
Photo #1 -Front view - trying to get the scoop adjusted so I can drill mounting holes.  The opening shown will later be enlarged to accommodate for engine vibration.  Came out pretty close to flush but have some tweaking to do yet.  At this point I have about 130 hours in the cowl and figure I have another 20 to go (dream on sucker) before it is ready for paint.  I cut an 8 1/2 inch hole in the front and will use a 9 inch spinner.  May later close this hole up some but not completely.
Photo #2 - Side view is better than anticipated.  Almost conforms to the natural slope of the rest of the cowl.  Did some modifying around the engine compartment so it fit a little tighter.  The ugly aluminum plate shown on the thrust line will be gone on the finished one.  (see next 3 photo's) All you will see will be 5 -#8 screws.  The scoop was made with 3 layers of 12 oz. BID.  All up weight at this point a little under 9 lbs. Finished weight is 10 lbs.
Time for a Thanksgiving break - and probably a winter break. Date: 11/25/03
Photo #3 -Some explanations on the picture if you enlarge it.  It is basically finished in this shot.  Need to round some corners on the engine opening and spray and wet sand 2 more coats of primer.  Then it will be ready for paint.
Photo #4 & 5 -Air scoop/filter came out almost exactly as I wanted.  The filter will actually extend forward of the scoop about a quarter of an inch but will be OK.  The scoop cover is held in place with 8 screws into blind - lock nuts so I can remove it for oil change, etc..  Damned thing took nearly 200 hours to fabricate, but then again I never claimed to be the fastest or best builder in the world.  I am happy with the results and that is all that matters.

Bottom Row
Photo #1 & 2 -A rough in photo of the primer line and Gascolator.  Still have to put in some support brackets and tidy things up a bit.
Photo #3,4 & 5 - Bit the bullet and decided to try to make my own Eyebrows.  I liked the ones on the Sportster so tried to copy them using soft "0" temper 6061 aluminum.  That stuff is soft so be careful.  They came out pretty good and may later be painted white.  The valve covers will be chromed.

Winter is OVER so I can gear up again !!
