Pickwick Ice Center. Home of the Los Angeles Figure Skating  Club who moved there when Polar Palace burned down.185 x 85 regulation hockey rink in a complex with bowling alley and what used to be a vast circular municipal pool--now gardens used for weddings.   Cliff Oddson took over the skate shop there, and most of the teachers from Polar also migrated there, as did their students, a step down from Polar.

"I played hockey there when my team went "on the road" in the  1970s.  It was  a free standing building & otherwise, I have no idea  where it was or what is there now.  I remember that it was colder and  smaller than the Van Nuys Iceland (yes, that is possible) & they would play  a recording of the National Anthem before the hockey games, which was pretty  cool for an 8 year old to feel  like he was an NHL player!"

Palm Desert
A small Ice Capades Chalet rink closed in 2001. (see my closed rinks list).  Gary Stevens managed to replace it  with a smaller one which has a hockey program. The City would like to build a real rink if finances can be found.
