Belmont Mass Losses mainly during the Korean 'conflict'
My source for the following list was the Belmont Veterans Officer. All deceased are included whether in training, MIA, KIA or WIA. I solicit your assistance in gathering data on these men for posting here.
I have found the Korean War Database to be woefully inadequate. However 'it's there'. For example to find the Belmont names you have to enter MA and get the list for the whole state of Massachusetts, then find their names. The 'hometown' doesn't work, except for two names because although I have posted some with Belmont as the home town, the database ignores my correction. A DNA testing program has been setup for identification. The DPMO and CILHI offices (gubmnt I guess) are working on identification of remains in North Korea. Remains returned are normally held or buried in Hawaii's 'Punchbowl'. The appropriate identifying DNA continues as long as there is a female family member arising from the mother's side. All of this is explained with sources, details, etc on the Korean War Memorial website.
You can help in the search by contacting a small group of veterans who search for family members of certain Korean War MIAs in order to acquire DNA to identify remains of US service personnel being searched for and discovered in North and South Korea.
