Barritt
of Whittier was President and Juniors coach. Fred Hildebrand was Midget
Coach and I was Mighty Mite 'Manager'. Mike Lampman of the Midget team
later played for the Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues.

Junior.
(Bucky Waterfield was on the Peewee team. Father was Bob Waterfield of
football fame, mother was Jane Russell. Art Guiney was the manager of
the
Peewees and the Juniors.

playing in four different age brackets and Jorn
Winther, producer of Sonny & Cher, Route 66, etc TV shows, had two.
They were very generous
with
their time and money, notably with 'Operation East', an annual trek of
L.A. players to the northeastern U.S.

also covers 'OPERATION EAST' of that year. (In June 1970 I took over as
Treasurer, collected and paid off $10,000 which had been in arrears for
up to 10 months.)

coach. I helped after Herb Carlbom broke his leg. Ben played 'senior'
around
L.A. He had been Stan Mikita's first coach.

Blvd, Squirt-Midget 1972-73 Roster of players and coaches, which shows
Joe Nix and Rollo Miller as Bantam coaches. and Fred Hildebrand as
Juniors
coach. All I can recall is Rollo, Fred and I starting a 'hockey
school',
Rollo being a skating specialist. I was working 40 miles away across
Los
Angeles and I don't think I did much 'bantam coaching'. I can recall
Fred
and I showing slides or charts on hockey skills to a few dedicated
players.
Alex Patterson was listed as a Peewee Coach. I played 'huff and puff'
for
years with Alex and have a photo of us in a game at the Ice Capades
Chalet.
March 24, 1973, four
page
letter from
Joe Nix to 'Parents of Anaheim Hockey Players' about the flux in
leagues,
rinks and teams and hoping for an Anaheim nucleus team. I was about 20
years ahead of 'times', apparently.
A January 8, 1980. L.A.
Times article,
listing with extensive detail of condition, appearance and activity
times
for the 12 ICE RINKS in Greater Los Angeles. Two of those have closed,
Polar Palace 1800 W. Whittier Boulevard, La Habra and West Covina Ice
Arena,
2235 E. Garvey, West Covina (where we played a lot of adult hockey).
And
I believe the old Van Nuys rink has been replaced by two surfaces.
