Some Guiney genealogy data as
a sequel
to my ART GUINEY R.I.P. series
Page started on April 16, 2000
after
a several emails being exchanged between friends and a relative of Art
Guiney's.
- Social Security Death

entry:
ARTHUR GUINEY, b. 21 Jun 1916, d. 09 Jul 1992, last address, 90409
(Santa
Monica, Los Angeles, CA), SS# 010-16-9890, issued in Massachusetts
- I believe Art was born in
Arlington
Massachusetts and so far we are guessing his middle name was Francis.
- The Guiney name is from
the
Kerry/Limerick/Cork
regions of Ireland and several Guineys married into the Curtin family.
- Art had said he was
related
to a former
premier of Australia, named Curtin.
- Denis Guiney married Nora
Curtin in
the 1800's.
- Guineys have been
involved in
the legal
profession.
- Some were in the
wholesale
veggie business
in Boston.
- Art had a relative who
had a
very successful
business associated with ice cream and I have not yet been able to
recall
the name.
- I have been in contact
with a
likely
Art Guiney relation in England who wrote the following: "We first
thought
the Guineys went to America late 1800's but have since found they have
been going to Boston and back to Ireland long before that date."
- His sisters obituary:

Virginia M. Of Belmont, Massachusetts Nov 14, 2007. Daughter of
the late Timothy and Margaret (Kenna) Guiney. Sister of the late Arthur
Guiney. She is survived by her cousins Helen Feleciano and Catherine
Bernice Guiney both of Royalston, MA. and William P. Guiney of Boca
Raton, FL. and the late Fr Jack Guiney. Visiting hours in the Brown

- Art's uncle Jack, John
Guiney, moved
from Massachusetts to Monrovia California by the 1950's and later back
to Massachusetts. Art visited him in about 1986. after Art had sold his
interest in the hockey/skate business. I thought Jack then lived in
Medford.
The following maybe his or Art's brother's:
GUINEY, JOHN SS Number
022-01-6633
Birthdate 15 OCT 1906
Date of Death 19 NOV 1992
Last benefit residence,
ARLINGTON,
MA, 02174 - The
SS Death Index lists
several Guineys
in Pennsylvania which reminds me that Art told me one time he had some
close link with Connie Mack, long time manager of the Philadelphia
Athletics.
When they came to Boston Art would be a batboy and sat on the A's
bench.
'Connie Mack' was Cornelius Alexander McGillicuddy, a native of East
Brookfield,
Mass. and owner/manager of the Philadelphia baseball franchise.
