Below are excerpts when I was Co-editor with Corporal Ty Curtis. Over half the publication was 'boilerplate' received from Armed Forces News or other services. The Armed Forces Radio Station daily schedule comprised four pages of every issue. We 'cut' each week's issue on stencils and the print is somewhat uneven.

Pfc. H.S. Rice, second place
in
the competition is from Pasco, Washington and also arrived here last
May.
He enlisted in October 1953 and graduated from The Adjutant General's
School
at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. He attended Grays Harbor Jr. College in
Aberdeen,
Washington prior to enlisting in the Army.
While old 1954 has reached
its climax
so did the first half of the newly-formed 9434 and Navy Bowling League
fade out.
The league has proven most
successful
with the running teams fighting all the way down the wire. Navy's "A"
team
pulled out in front in the beginning, but were slowly whittled down
from
their lead as bowlers on other teams improved. The closure of the first
half has found most teams well-balanced and the second half is expected
to be more thrilling with practically all teams as potential winners.
It was "B" team composed of
Hodgkins,
Fields, Allison, Voorheis, Sznurkowski and George who copped the
championship
of the first half, beating out "E" and "A" teams by one game. "E" was
knocked
out of a possible tie with "B" when "H" edged them by two pins.
The league is very proud of the
fact that there were no forfeits and the games were won the hard way.
Most
teams are eagerly looking forward to a brand new year to bring them the
prized trophies.
Sgt Higham is pacing the league
with a 185 average, followed by Brown 171, Cieplenski 165, Thomas 165
and
Beulow 160. Higham is also tops with a three-game series of 626 and is
tied with Capt. Cassady for a high game of 236. "A" is high for a team
series with 2415 and "F" is ahead in a single game for a team with 861.
Most improved bowlers are
Scheller,
Trietsch, Barbato, Stone, Voorheis, Wilkinson, George, Waidner, Dobbins
and Kilmain. Gori continues to forge ahead in an up-side down league
with
an average of 98 and seems a sure winner for the booby prize.
E.M BOWLING
Wednesday night in the E.M.
League,
"HH" team took all four points from "GG" team by winning all three
games
and taking total pinfall. The final totals were 2104 for "HH" team to
1924
for "GG" team. Spalding was high bowler for "HH" team with a 500
series.
Bates was high bowler for "GG" team with a series of 477.
