comprehensive list of resources
- Fiftieth reunion dinner for the CLASS OF 1950 was held October 28, 2000 at The Best Western TLC Hotel, Terrace Room, 477 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, MA 02451. Unfortunately I couldn't 'fit in' a trip to Boston from the Ozarks at the time. The only reunion dinner I ever attended and that was briefly, was 1953 when I was in Army uniform on my way to Westover AFB.
- A class booklet with color photos was produced from brief biographies which classmates sent in prior to October 8, 2000. I purchased a copy from Don Tucker and for awhile was worried that in most of the pictures 'everyone' looked younger than me, then I learned most of the pics were from the 1995 reunion and maybe those mailed in for this year were not taken the week before mailed as were mine.
- Nancy (Oteri) MacIsaac had sent me a marked up copy in July of the latest class list and I went over it carefully, looking up every name on Switchboard.com, retyped the entire list adding updated address information in many cases. For some without address I entered 'possibles' from Switchboard.com. In early September I learned that Don Tucker had been working the 'official list' following much of the same trails I had.
- From an approximate count of the 284 names on the list I get the following geographical breakdown:
- Massachusetts 133 (inc 21 on Cape Cod)
- New England outside MA 26 (inc PA, NY, CT, NJ 3)
- Florida 18
- Calif 7
- Arizona 4
- Virginia 4
- One each in: Canada, W. VA, MD, WA, GA, OH, TN, MO and OK

- When our class was in the 7th grade a 'delightful chap' who unfortunately is no longer 'with us', was ordered by 'Mr. Powell', "William give me what you have in your hand.' Delay by William, order repeated. Object handed over. Live firecracker the fuse of which William was attempting to snuff out. Apparently 'Mr. Powell' tossed the 'object' on the window sill, those broad ones in the Junior High and subsequently a window was cracked when 'it went off'.
- Miss Helen Bridey kept some students honest by calling on them out of turn to sight read their French assignment. Who was the student who recited correctly after asking 'quel libre?' and then 'quel page?' when called upon?
- Along with 'some' late arriving students which teacher 'made entry' via the open west side windows into the electrical shop below the assembly hall?
- At a dance in the high school cafeteria, a 'drum competition' was held between two local drummers? Neither was in the class of '50 but do you know their names?
- Did some 'brats' place a pail of water on the top of a door near the end of the school year in a classroom in the Wellington school' section of the high school?
- How did Mr. Meyers cause Joe Nix to exercise extreme caution in making wise cracks in class?
- What was the actual tune of a favorite song on the high school football bus going to games? The words were something like "Chew, chew, chew. chew bubblegum, how I love bubblegum!
- In Mr. French's junior high 'woodworking' class was the boat ever finished? When it was partially built, the late Jack McDougall and the 'webmaster' here were changed to 'cooking' class, apparently for undetermined ill behaviour. I recall we surpised the cooking teacher by turning out edible muffins.
- Who was the first member of the class to drive his own vehicle to school on his own license? (hint, it was in the 9th grade).
- Looking at Vintage racing websites recently I recalled my trips to Norwood and Westwood ovals and a vague memory came back that someone in our class got to drive someone's car, an opportunity for which I was longing at the time. The memory is vague but I recall going to Norwood with Herbie Ducey, one of Eleanor's older brothers.
- Who was the print shop teacher in Junior High who used the knickname alias of Nellab Nodrog? (hint, initials G.B.A)
- In order to garner votes for president of the class of 1948, who resorted to being a 'skinhead' and posting signs on telephone poles?
- Did some hockey players actually get to sleep in a wood pile after their absurd 3 am practice times? (Hint. there was a wood pile in Mr. Egan's wood shop.)
- Who caused Mr. Ventura, Junior High principal to slam a student against the wall for ribbing him about his boat from ' shop class?
- Ms (Baby) Holbrook, Junior High English teacher used a stool in order to reach the classrom wall phone. Wasn't there a 'rhyme' about this?
- What teacher kept a spare wig in her desk drawer?
- With the new high school ice rink appropriately named after James 'Skippy' Vigliorolo for positive contribution to BHS hockey from the late '40's on, whose name should be 'expunged from memory' to prevent retention of his negative effect on BHS hockey in the '40's and 50's.?
- Who in the class would you ever expect to 'hang up' his hockey skates and be a walk on vocalist in the choir of a Met supported production of 'Aida'?
- Who were the only two 'college bound' class members granted releases to take auto shop?
