- seal, sealed=shrinkwrap sealed by the manufacturer.
- mnt=mint, appears as new, possibly not played or very few times.
- nm=near mint, may have small inaudible scuff marks on the surface. I add a plus and a minus based on appearance.
- vg+=very good plus. Good enough for disc jockey air time use. May have some faintly audible occasional surface noise.
- vg=very good, some minor surface noise, either random or in one sector. Very enjoyable listening.
- vg-=very good minus. enough surface noise to slightly hinder listening enjoyment if you are in the same room.
- g or gd=good with plus or minus if necessary. consistent surface noise, enjoyable from the next room.
Grading is after at least one cleaning and I recheck it before responding to inquiries. I acquired a Numark direct drive turntable after since grading many of the records on previous turntables. I clean with a dust free cloth or brush every record before every play. I also clean my stylus frequently with cleaner. My Panasonic Thruster 6 inch woofer/tweeter speakers are five and 10 feet from me. The left one picks up mono and is the closest to me so I may well hear more surface noise than on other equipment. I play at low volume through a Kenwood KR-4140 Stereo Receiver with no additional pre-amp.Recording vinyl records on tape or CD can eliminate surface noise to varifying degrees. I've used a common tape deck to markedly improve audio via its internal filters. I don't offer those services.
ABBREVIATIONS GLOSSARY
As I have done with my entire for sale inventory, they can be cleaned with mild dishwashing detergent, a soft sponge, warm water, thorough rinsing and air drying. Avoid the label as much as possible since some will be distorted or their colors bleed. Store upright away from sunlight, dust and dampness.
