COLLEGE ELIGIBILITY 'HELP'
and
Some HISTORY of the  Jr. B  WESTERN STATES HOCKEY LEAGUE

COLLEGE ELIGIBILITY RULES 'best I can do' with explanations

NCAA D-1: If you play 1 GAME in organized competition after you turn 21, you lose a year of eligibility. If you play that one game at age 22, you lose 2 years. Organized competition includes any game where (a) refs were used, (b) scores were kept, or (c) stats were kept. That's some of the rules

NCAA D-III is quite lenient. Reputedly some 40+ year olds are D3 rostered in the Northeast.

If you go Major Junior in Canada you are no longer considered an amateur by the NCAA and you have to appeal.

NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse

1) Check your high school’s list of approved core courses at Core Courses Listing . Take classes that are approved by the NCAA and fulfill eligibility requirements.

2) Add the NCAA to your ACT or SAT exam reports by putting code “9999” in the reporting service area.

3) File with the Clearinghouse AFTER you have the grade point average and testing scores you need to clear. (With a 2.0 Clearinghouse GPA, 1010 SAT or 86 ACT combined)

4) Ask any school recruiting you to place you on its IRL (Institution Request List)

5) Be aware of time and eligibility deadlines, special case scenarios, and other circumstances that may affect your case.

6) for more help email Mrs. Foster author of the above five pointers
