Shell Knob Early Head Start & Head Start Centers
EARLY HEAD START
Newborn to age 3
Capacity for 16 infants & toddlers
Four certified teachers
HEAD START
Ages 3 to 5
Capacity for 20 children
Three certified teachers
These early childhood education programs provide preliteracy educational opportunities, safe playground equipment, nutritional meals and snacks for children of low-income-qualifying and Family Literacy families.  Licensed by the Missouri Department of Health.  Sponsored by Kornerstone, Even Start, OACAC and generous donations of time and money from local organizations, businesses and residents of Shell Knob and surrounding towns.
Adult Education

GED training and testing:
111* students have received their General Education Diploma.  Kornerstone also provides financial assitance for students' testing fees.

Preparing for higher education:
Some adult students have their high school diploma but need to refresh their skills to prepare for career development, such as nursing school, vo-tech, etc.

Computer classes:
More than 443*  people have completed Kornerstone's computer classes, ranging from "Very, Very Beginning" to instruction in all Microsoft Office programs and Internet/eMail programs.

Family/Parenting Education
Parents and Children Together (PACT)
Kornerstone serves more than 100 families each year, teaching parenting and relationship skills through classes such as "Positive Discipline," "Love and Logic," "Car Seat Safety," and utilizing "Let's Begin With Letter People" curriculum.
Kornerstone Kids 
is a discretionary account, funded by community donations, to provide coats, gloves, boots, clothes, or other necessities for Shell Knob children who have special needs or circumstances.
Kornerstone's 21 Century
After-school and Summer Programs
Kornerstone created these programs to:
  • provide students with extended learning opportunities within a safe, drug-free and supervised environment
  • improve the academic performance and personal well-being of each participating student
  • develop and strengthen the relationship between parents and their children's school
Kornerstone is proud to collaborate with Shell Knob School to make after-school and summer programs available that enrich the lives and learning of children K-12 and their families.  Parents, teachers and community volunteers make these programs possible, economical, enlightening, and a fun way to learn!

Immunizations and Flu Shots
offered by Barry County Health Department.  Children's immunizations are available monthly at Kornerstone Early Head Start & Head Start Centers.  580* adults have received their flu shots at Kornerstone.

Nutrition Programs
offered by WIC, serving Women, Infants & Children to age 5.  357* mothers and children have participated in these programs, receiving food vouchers and/or attending nutrition education classes conducted at Kornerstone.

Professional Mental Health Counseling
More than 347* people have benefitted from family or individual mental health counseling at Kornerstone.
*These statistics were acquired from the time of service inception through October 1, 2004.
