The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary needs your help!
During these troubled times the United States Coast Guard is stretched thin. Your civilian volunteer help is needed in management, radio communications, crew and coxswain, teaching boating safety courses, public affairs, publications, website maintenance, marine safety and environment, maritime security and other areas. If you're interested in donating your skills to help the U. S. Coast Guard, you can do so by joining the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. At that point, you'll receive the necessary training and become a critical component of "Team Coast Guard".
Forming a new Unit
We formed a Detachment in the Lebanon area which is part of Flotilla 52 which is located in Springfield, MO. The unit will continue as a Detachment until it is large enough to stand on its own as a Flotilla.
Are you a leader? Like to be a part of new developments? We would like for you to join us in helping set up this new unit. The unit is similar to any other organization. It needs members interested in an array of standard operating areas, i.e. training, financial, public affairs, secretary, management, materials, website maintenance, etc.
Members are also needed for publications, crew and coxswain for patrolling, radio communications, instructing public education courses, marine safety and environment, vessel safety checks, recreational visitors (visiting businesses to promote boating safety and all aspects of the Auxiliary), and other maritime security functions.

What is the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary?
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the volunteer, civilian, non-military arm of the U.S. Coast Guard. It serves you through boating-safety classes, free vessel safety checks and safety patrols on the water and in the air, and other maritime security activities. Members of the Auxiliary have no law-enforcement powers.
An Act of Congress in 1939 created the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary as the volunteer civilian component of the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard Authorization Act, passed October 19, 1996, authorizes Coast Guard Auxiliary personnel to "assist the Coast Guard, as authorized by the Commandant, in performance of any Coast Guard function, duty, role, mission or operation, authorized by the law." Presently this Act of Congress is saving the taxpayers an estimated $200 million a year.

This unit would be part of six Flotillas under the jurisdiction of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 5 which is responsible for the territory of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas. The Detachment would be located in Lebanon, Missouri and operate in the Lebanon area.
