Vessel Safety Check

Vessel Safety Check Decal for 2008The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers FREE Vessel Safety Checks to boaters wishing to be sure that their boats or personal watercraft meet all Federal and State safety requirements.

The Vessel Examiners who perform the VSC's are specially-trained Auxiliarists who are kept informed on the latest legal requirements for boaters. Vessel Examiners have no legal authority -- in fact, they are here to help prevent boaters from getting equipment-related citations.

Vessel Safety Checks are an educational experience. The Vessel Examiners will gladly explain why the safety equipment requirements are there, and how the equipments works.  15 reasons a vessel might not pass a Vessel Safety Check.  Browse our National Auxiliary Vessel. Safety Check website for additional information.

Boats which pass the examination are awarded the Seal of Safety to be placed on their boats.
