Deborah A. “Debbie” Spears, flotilla 5, Division 15, has over 24 years of volunteer service in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. A very devoted and talented lady, she has, while serving in all elected offices as Flotilla Commander, Division Captain and District Rear Commodore for Eight Western Rivers Region, never lost track of what was going on at the flotilla level and simultaneously supported all levels of Auxiliary activities. Debbie helped Charter several Flotillas, supported numerous OPEX’s and promoted various other Auxiliary functions with her strong leader skills. She acted as a major mentor within this District promoting strong core values at all times. Not satisfied in her endeavors, she agreed to serve the last three “Eight Western Rivers” Commodores as Administrative Staff Aide wherein she gave another six years and with no end of contributions by herself. She has taken on major projects which involved countless hours including the District’s “Standing Rules” and “Eight Western Rivers Directory”. Her past experience in successfully assisting one Commodore has lead to a smoother transition for each successor to that very important office. Debbie is the leading senior authority in Courtesy and Protocol, and is always involved at the District Conference Banquet or the Past Captain Luncheon, applying her keen professional sense of detail. Debbie, has always been considered a valuable team player supporting any requirement or task requested by her Commodore. When both the Director and our Commodore requested an additional team be assembled for the 2004 DSAR event at Lake Ouachita, Arkansas, Debbie thought outside the box, assisted and took part in forming an all women crew team. This lead to a first place with the Fire Pump and second place in the Marlin Spike Splicing and the full respect by our Sector Lower judges in all other events. As Commodore Diane Williams said many times to Debbie in the past, may we also add “Thank You Debbie” for all you do in support of this organization. |
