ALL
IN A DAY’S WORK
Congratulations! You are reading the first edition of “All in
a Day’s Work.” Rhonda and I attended
AUX-11, Jr. DIRAUX Training at N-TRAIN last week and came back energized with
lots of new ideas. We decided to start a
short newsletter outlining DIRAUX administrative items of interest.
Director’s Office
Relocation
I’m sure by now you all know
that the Director’s Office changed locations.
Please update your records to change our room number to 2.102H.
Also, please ensure your contact
information for the DIRAUX is:
(314) 269-2696 – office main
line
(314) 269-2739 – fax
Email Addresses: laura.a.simpson@uscg.mil
and rhonda.k.dupras@uscg.mil.
This information can be found
on the 8WR website at http://users.mo-net.com/district8wr/diraux/index.htm.
We moved the first week of
December and have not been authorized to fill our lektriever. Up until last week we had virtually no access
to personnel records, certificates, flotilla files, etc. Once CDR O vacated his office we stacked the
active files in his office 2-3 drawers high on the floor. We have a tremendous filing backlog at this
point as well as issuance of many letters/certificates has been delayed. Please bear with us during this time.
C Schools
Before requesting enrollment
in C Schools please go to the 8WR website at http://users.mo-net.com/district8wr/diraux/index.htm
and click the link for the Chief Director (G-OCX) Website and click the tab for
C-Schools and check the prerequisites for the course. If you meet these prerequisites, complete a
Short-Term Training Request (available on the 8WR website at http://users.mo-net.com/district8wr/diraux/index.htm)
and route through your FC. If your FC
approves, he will forward to DIRAUX. The
first thing we do is run your training record out of Direct Access to determine
if you’ve already taken the class. If
you have, the request will be denied.
Next, the course prerequisites are checked. If these aren’t met, the request is denied. Also, if you have attended a C School in the
previous 36 months, another C School cannot be attended without requesting a
waiver from the Chief Director’s Office.
This is found in the Auxiliary Manual, COMDTINST M16790.1F, Ch. 8, sec.
C.2.c, page 8-14. On few occasions there
will be a request from the National Staff for a member to specifically attend a
class despite not meeting prerequisites or having already attended the
course. If that is the case, you need to
provide that information to us. If we
don’t receive additional info, we’ll deny the request. Finally, if all hurdles have been jumped, Mr.
Leavell will approve the request and I will enroll you in the course in Direct
Access. Orders will be emailed to you
approximately 3 weeks prior to training.
Chain of Leadership VS.
Contacting DIRAUX
Rhonda and I truly enjoy
talking to you and we consider you our friends, but we really do not have the
time to take so many calls. You need to
work through your chain of leadership.
Chain of leadership and management is explained in the AUXMAN, Ch. 1, sec.
C.1. We find most phone calls could have been more efficiently handled via
email.
If you need to check the
status of a travel claim, go to the 8WR website http://users.mo-net.com/district8wr/diraux/index.htm
and click on the travel voucher summary tab.
Enter your Social Security number and last name. This is the exact same website Rhonda and I
use to check the status of your claim.
Make sure you have allowed sufficient time for the claim to process, on
average 6 weeks after submission. If you
waited 6 weeks and your claim does not show up on the website, then you can
complete a payment status request or phone them for an update (this information
is available on the same travel voucher summary website).
If you need your AUXDATA
password or access set or reset, contact your DSO-IS,
We’ll see you at the
conferences and we’d love to chat with you there.
One Last Thing
Did you happen to count how
many times I mentioned http://users.mo-net.com/district8wr/diraux/index.htm? That’s because http://users.mo-net.com/district8wr/diraux/index.htm
is pretty much one-stop shopping. Our
webmaster, Jerry Domann, has done a phenomenal job on the website. The 8WR website http://users.mo-net.com/district8wr/diraux/index.htm
should be your first resource.
Thank you all for all you do!

New Enrollment Packages
and Security Stuff in General
I just have one thing to say: http://users.mo-net.com/district8wr/diraux/index.htm.
JUST KIDDING!!
But seriously this website is
the best. It has everything you wanted
to know about new enrollment forms, DO and OS security forms, and what you need
to submit with these forms.
The new enrollment forms are
very easy to use, but they still have some kinks that need to be worked
on. So there may be changes coming to
these forms in the near future.
If you have recently
submitted a new enrollment, don’t panic if you did not use the new form because
we will still accept the old forms for a month (February 28, 2007 is the
cut-off date), but please use the new forms from here on out. These new forms were sprung on us at last
minute and we did not know a change was coming.
I still get the
question: Do we need a copy of our Birth Certificate or Passport? And
the answer is YES, unless you simply cannot get these documents. It makes the whole security process go much
faster, 1-2 months versus 3-6 months.
Just having someone sign saying they have seen the documents is just not
enough. You need a copy of a birth
certificate or passport for all Security documents turned in (OS, DO, and new enrollments). Same goes for fingerprint cards, even if you
have turned in fingerprint cards with your OS Package or new enrollment, you
still need them for your DO package submitted; they have a short shelf life.
Just a note to remind
everyone to fill out the fingerprint cards completely. Also the person being fingerprinted and the
person taking the fingerprints need to sign the card.
If security sends you a document
requesting more information, please make sure you reply back to them. Failure to do so will result in a disenrollment.
We had a pretty good end of
the year; we only had to disenroll about 56 people for not turning in security
paperwork. Not bad considering we have
over 1250 Auxiliarists and we started out January 2006 with 189 non-submitted
packages. We are still at 1255 total
Auxiliarists. Thanks to everyone for
getting these security packages turned in to me and putting up with me for the
last few months. You are all the best!!!
