Member E-Training

The Auxiliary offers it's members a multitude of training opportunities.  Most training is accomplished the traditional way through Member Training Officers, mentoring, workshops, classes,  hands-on experience and self study. Much of the study material can now be downloaded from the internet and testing can be done in your own home, at your convenience, on-line, as well.

To assist  members in accomplishing their training objectives and simplify the process District 8WR has approved on-line testing whenever available.  Open book tests do not require a proctor and may be taken at your convenience, day or night.  Closed book tests require that a proctor be present when you take the test.  All AUXOP certified members of 8WR are eligible proctors.  Refer to the AuxOp Proctors for On-line Testing webpage for details.

E-test results are automatically entered into AuxData.  You do not need to send the test results to DirAux for entry.  You may verify passing scores of past examinations that you have taken.  As additional examinations are taken on line the report history  grows. This page will also allow a quick verification page for FCs and others checking that a member has passed and exam. The data base that drives this page is populated with information at the same time the notification is given to the member taking the exam. Only passing exams populate this database.

Upon taking an on-line examination, all exam results will be displayed on the members computer, within seconds of pressing submit.  The results will include whether or not a member has passed, the test score received and the questions missed, if any. (Note to AuxOP students - if the examination just passed is the final course for the AuxOp series the member and/or proctor must notify DirAux that this is the final AuxOp exam and that the member is now eligible for the AuxOp designation.  DirAux will then send a letter to the member congratulating and certifying eligibility, an AuxOp device and a Certificate.)

Additional training is offered through Class C Schools (known as "C" Schools).  They are Short Term Resident Training.  These schools are usually one week or less and are paid for out of "training" funds.  You donate your time and the Coast Guard pays for the travel costs.  An Auxiliary C-School Portal website has been developed, designed as a one-stop portal for all USCG Auxiliary members looking for information about Auxiliary C-School programs.  It includes information about who is eligible to attend, how to apply, how to acquire orders, class schedules, etc.  (Note regarding C-School - Due to the extremely limited quotas available to these schools, Auxiliarists are ineligible to attend if previously enrolled in any Auxiliary national school within the past thirty-six months.  Waivers of this policy must be submitted directly to the Chief Director.)

Incident Command System (ICS) 100 - available through the Coast Guard Learning Portal applicable to all CG, CG Reserve and Auxiliarists.  It is NIMS compliant.  Entry requires the members Employee ID and last name.  (Note - when a member passes the course using the CG Learning Portal the members training record is automatically updated in AuxData to reflect completion of the course.  Notification of DirAux or Rudy Stanek, DSO-IS, is not necessary.)

Incident Command System (ICS) - course material & tests via FEMA:

Note - Members should notify Rudy Stanek, DSO-IS when they pass a FEMA course so that he may enter it into the members training record in AuxData.  Forwarding the passing confirmation e-mail to Rudy is sufficient.  His e-mail address is rpstanek@att.net  DirAux should also be copied.  E-mail information can be found on the DirAux Staff webpage.
