Framework of the
Church
Held in Your Hands
The church, according to poet Ann Weems, is supposed to be a place where
the "anthem
is the laughter of
children," "the minister is ministered to," and "the offering plates are
overflowing with people".
I love this poem. I believe she has captured a small picture of
God's plan for His church. You see, I know that the church is not a
building. It is the people. Throughout the history
of God's "church" the
gathering of His people has been held in many places: homes,
caves, open
fields, catacombs, and expansive cathedrals.
All of these places have held the church at various times. For us here,
now in this time,
our framework for the church is being held in your hands.
It is in the lives of the people
you will contact daily
through Email or this web site and in the lives of people not yet a part
of this fellowship. Use these tools to pray for one another. Use them to
make a difference in lives. Use them to build the church in this space, in
this time, in keeping with God's plan.
Looking forward to communicating together.

We Are Building Upon

Central Community
United Methodist Church
CCUMC
had
its beginnings on November 28, 1971, in an old
school
building on Highway 39 in Shell Knob. On March 12,
1972,
forty-seven people signed the roll as Charter Members.
Services were held in the Shell Knob Community
Building while a new church building was under construction
at the
present site on Highway YY.
The first service in the
new $75,000 edifice was on December 16, 1973.
Dedication of the Church was on March 23, 1980.
Ground was
broken in August of 1981 for the addition of a $175,000 sanctuary, and
on Palm Sunday in 1986 the
addition was
dedicated to Christ.
A
residence
for our pastor was completed in 1986 on property
adjoining the
Church.
In 1999, a new
building addition was completed. Included
in the
new facility are
a multi-purpose room with a regulation sized
basketball court, a commercial kitchen,
5
class/conference rooms,
office space, with additional second floor expansion space for
future
multi-purpose rooms.
