Table Rock Lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake that confines the
White River and lies mostly in Missouri along the Arkansas border. The
river was impounded in 1959 and offers many recreational opportunities
as well as beautiful scenery.
The lake boasts over 43,000 surface acres and more than 800 miles of shoreline.
Due to the rocky terrain along most of the watershed, the run-off is free
of silt, giving us a clear-water lake. It is not uncommon to see depths
of 15 ft. The absence of slow moving or standing water also explains the
noticeable lack of mosquitoes in our area.
Big Creek Resort is located Approximately 30 miles from the dam, near the
center portion of the lake. This allows for beautiful ski water and fantastic
boating opportunities. Many times the water is like a mirror. We entertain
many bare foot skiers due to the fine skiing conditions found in the Big
Creek Arm of the lake.
The basin of the lake was not cleared before impoundment. Therefore there
is still standing timber in the coves and along the shoreline. The depth
of the lake however makes the middle of the lake perfect for skiing and
boating. At normal lake levels the lake is 115 ft. deep in the middle of
the Big Creek Arm.
As you travel our lake you will be treated to vistas of towering bluffs,
gentle gravel bars, and area wild life. Many people enjoy a picnic on the
gravel bars, collecting drift wood or rocks. Come and enjoy.
