Hebrews 9:22: "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission" (of sin)
What is the truth? The truth is when I admit I am guilty of breaking God's laws. That is what Jesus meant when He said in the 3rd chapter of John's gospel "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
The truth is we are all "condemned already". We are all guilty of sin and we will all be judged for our sin. The only way out is for someone else to pay for our sins. That someone must be free from sin. If a man awaits his punishment on death row, he cannot have another death row inmate die in his place nor can he die in the place of another death row inmate. Each man must die for his own crimes. So it is with spiritual death. I cannot pay for another man's sin neither can another pay for my sin. We all must pay the penalty for our own sin. Our only hope is that one who is innocent will come and pay for our sin and in doing so we will be freed. The Bible tells us that only one was without sin. His name is Jesus Christ.
It is our goal that everyone would know Jesus because He and He alone can forgive sin.
When Jesus was brought to Pilate, He said "Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice." and Pilate said to Him "What is truth?" and then Pilate walked away. I urge you not to walk away as Pilate did.
